Who we are and what we do
We are a not-for-profit social enterprise combining growing and selling fresh cut salad leaves whilst working with disadvantaged groups of individuals from in and around Cardiff.
We are soon to be located within Bute Park one of the most central parks in Cardiff, using a greenhouse within The Walled Garden to grow our produce. This location is fantastic as it means that people can access the project without the need for a car. We will also be making all salad deliveries to restaurants in Cardiff via bicycle and trailer – a truly sustainable business.
We will grow a range of salad leaves all year round for continuous harvesting. These mixed baby leaf salads are picked to order, high quality, and unique, and are available to restaurants in Cardiff all year round. Restaurants can commit to a weekly standing order for salad; deliverable on set days throughout the week.
In addition the garden is used to run gardening sessions educating people about food and developing horticultural skills, indirectly working on confidence building, improving social skills, language and promoting positive mental health. We aim to work initially with Asylum seekers, refugees and individuals with mental health problems, but also other disadvantaged groups from within the city.
The greenhouse will be ready for planting our first crops in early June, with first harvests mid July.
